As the premier supplier to our international banking client in Basel, Swisslinx are looking for a Senior Windows Engineer to support an ongoing modernisation project in a complex enterprise environment.
This is a rolling 12 month contract running with potential to extend up to five years, starting ASAP.
Joining a small and diverse Microsoft Infrastructure Team of Senior Engineers and Architects the primary responsibilities will include the implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise-class software and services in a hybrid cloud enterprise.
The candidate will primarily be helping with the day-to-day operations of the server infrastructure team and will be asked to assist with various projects the team are running. The split between operational and project work is around 80% operational and 20% project work (mainly around migrations, upgrades, security strategy, software integrations, server automation etc.).
The role is in an on-prem environment but heavily focused on Cloud, the successful candidate will have exposure to a lot of new technologies.
You will support the team in implementing, maintaining, and operating various Microsoft Infrastructure technologies. The Windows Engineer will be responsible to contribute to the definition of and delivery of services to support various automation and transformation projects across a diverse technology stack, with a focus on Microsoft products:
• Implement and maintain core Windows Server infrastructure services including but not limited to security hardening, automated deployment, patching, lifecycle management.
• Implement and maintain core infrastructure services including but not limited to AD, AAD, SQL Server, Azure ARC, Citrix VDI, SCOM, SCCM, etc.
• Strong Powershell scripting skills for automation.
• Install, configure, and deploy SQL servers (this is not a DBA role).
• Practice Agile and DevOps practices within Infrastructure and Operations
In order to be considered for this role, you will possess the following skills and experience:
• 5+ years building, configuring, and maintaining Microsoft based solutions as a Systems Engineer or Systems Administrator
• Strong experience in Windows Server (2016, 2019, 2022), Directory Services (ADDS and AAD), Active Directory sMSA, gMSA, GPO etc
• Knowledge of Azure Directory Sync and Health services, Azure Enterprise Applications (SSO, Provisioning) and Azure Authentication standards (SAML, OAuth)
• Requires knowledge of Windows security features, operating system hardening (CIS, NIST, Microsoft) and experience with firewalls and zoning concepts.
• Fluency in a scripting language, ideally PowerShell. A candidate with experience automating daily infrastructure tasks will be considered favourably
• Fluency in English
Nice to have:
• Knowledge in some of the areas SCCM, SCOM, DNS, IIS and File System Security.
• Knowledge of working with VMware as a hypervisor for virtual machine administration.
Please note interviews would be conducted via video call (usually max two rounds), however the role is based 100% in Switzerland. Our client offers:
