Back Office Generalist

On behalf of our client, a financial institution in Basel, we are looking for a versatile Back Office Generalist to join their team. In this role, you will support both Back and Front Office operations, working closely with the Banking department and other internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate has a solid background in transaction processing within a financial institution and experience with SWIFT messaging.

• Processing, confirmation and matching of transactions.
• Investigating and resolving processing exceptions for non-standard or special operations (money market, FX, Gold and derivative instruments).
• Providing processing support to the Central Bank and FX desks
• Investigating and resolving confirmation breaks and settlement failures together with the front office, custodians and customers.
• Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of confirmations, settlements and payments.
• Ensuring settlement instructions are kept up to date.
• Monitoring cash settlement and performing cash reconciliations, investigating breaks, processing compensation requests.
• Documenting processes and procedures as the need arises.
• Acting as the main point of contact for internal customers with regards to certain activities.

• Knowledge of financial instruments (e.g. money market, FX, and derivative instruments etc. – knowledge in any of the listed would be helpful).
• Fluency in English is required.
• Familiarity with SWIFT messaging formats required
• Back or Middle Office experience in a financial institution (operational related to transaction processing).
• General understanding of and interest in IT, new technologies.
• Ability to work methodically and accurately even under pressure.
• Ability to cope with a variety of tasks.
• Flexible, cooperative, excellent communication skills; a team player with customer focus.
