Job description:
This is an initial contract running for 12+ months with strong likelihood to extend on a long term basis (up to max five years) based on the project road maps, with start date by June 2025.
The Data Steward will play a key role developing and implementing data management documentation, data catalogue tooling, data inventory, data retention policies, and data flow tooling in alignment with CIS Critical Security Controls.
The successful candidate will collaborate with various business units to help the business understand their role and responsibilities and implement processes to ensure that they are compliant with data governance requirements, thereby contributing to the Bank's compliance and data protection objectives.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in the development of comprehensive documentation that outlines Business Unit-specific data management processes, including roles and responsibilities.
- Support the implementation of data inventory processes and tooling.
- In collaboration with the Data Governance team and across various units to create a detailed inventory listing all sensitive and critical data, ensuring accuracy and completeness as well as support data lineage tracking.
- Assist in the implementation of data retention policies and the retrospective clean-up or deletion of data, ensuring compliance with organisational requirements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure data management practices align with central data governance requirements.
- Provide technical support and expertise to business units, as needed.

Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach with the ability to work on a project basis across various business areas, demonstrate experience in managing data retention policies and data clean-up processes, and have expertise in setting up data lineage
In order to be considered for this role, you will possess as many of the following skills as possible:
- Around 5 years of experience in data management and data protection, including experience in implementing data management and data governance processes. Experience developing and documenting data management processes.
- Strong understanding of data management principles, practices and frameworks (eg DAMA DMBoK2).
- Technical expertise in managing data retention policies and data clean-up processes.
- Familiarity with data classification frameworks and metadata management.
- Proficiency using a data governance software (such as Collibra or similar) – maintaining data lineage, data inventories, data dictionaries.
- Experience working on a project basis, working across different projects within different business areas, with experience in managing time-bound projects, coordinating multiple tasks, and meeting deadlines.
- Fluency in English
The following are nice to have but not mandatory:
- Professional certification in data management (eg CDMP, CRISC)
